Audio editing is rarely a closed shop. Audio needs editing because it forms part of a video, or because someone (yourself or others) has conducted recording sessions that created the material in the first place.
When you are considering your audio editing software options it is crucial to keep in mind all the other applications that need to interface with it; not only in terms of import/export compatibility, but also in terms of language and methodology. The more your studio works as an integrated environment the easier your work will become. The following is an overview of some of WaveLab’s technical specifications and to give you some idea of how this software could integrate with your existing or future studio applications and hardware.
WaveLab can not only import and export many different audio file formats including: WAV, AIFF, AU, Ogg Vorbis, Ensoniq Paris 24 bit, Sound Designer II, ULAW, ALAW, MP3, MP2 (M.U.S.I.C.A.M.), WMA, AVI Audio, and Sun/Java, but will also import AVI video, allowing you to edit the accompanying audio as the video plays on a second track in the Audio Montage.
On top of this you can import and export AES-31, a format used for transferring projects between different workstations, retaining time position of events, fades, etc. If you are working with Nuendo 2 or later it is possible to add codes to the names of markers in Nuendo, and have WaveLab interpret them as WaveLab markers upon import of the resulting AES-31 project.
All in all WaveLab supports such a wide variety of formats that it can easily integrate with just about any studio software combination, plus you can also exchange sample data between WaveLab and a hardware sampler using SCSI, MIDI, SMDI or SDS communication methods.
Finally WaveLab allows you to burn CDs directly from the Audio Montage and contains a full range of DVD audio authoring tools allowing you to create surround or stereo audio projects with accompanying text, pictures, or video. --top-- |
