The Cubase Controller 1 to 1 (CC121) is, in the simplest sense, a hardware version of a Cubase channel strip. With a motorized fader, transport controls, track controls, EQ knobs, the Advanced Integration knob and more, the CC121 really is a 1:1 hardware analog of all the software functions that you use on a daily basis for recording, editing and mixing in Cubase.
With workflow efficiency and ease-of-use at the top of their list, Steinberg have created a truly useful piece of hardware that takes "control" to the next level. While you are probably used to using only one hand-to control the mouse, or two hands to control your mixing desk, now you can maximize your output and creative flow with both hands-one on the mouse and one on the controller-at all times!
You can scroll through tracks and have settings recalled instantly, you can set up to 4 programmable parameters, and with the AI knob you can control virtual instruments simply by pointing the mouse and turning the knob.
The CC121 really is easy to use. There is no set up process and no learning curve - you just plug it in and it works. If you use Cubase then you already know how the unit works, and if you get the CC121 with Cubase for the first time, you will actually figure out Cubase even faster than you would without the controller, as the channel strip is laid out physically in front of you in a truly intuitive and logical way which you can explore tactilely (let your fingers do the walking, as they say) rather than with the mouse.
The CC121 requires Cubase 4.5, Cubase Studio 4.5, Cubase Essential 4.5, Cubase AI 4.5 (included with the unit) or Nuendo 4.2 to work properly, which registered users can download for free here.
