I am a Windows XP user with a similar problem. I could install Halion one on my PC (after installing Cubase 4.5.2), but trying to load I got a message "content broken" or something... I've tried to uninstall, but then it went wrong... After reinstalling (see your procedure)I did not find Halion anymore on the VST instrument list. It even did not appear on the Start> All programs. So I could not start it up anymore. As it was a better success the first time I supposed that the uninstall was not done properly. So I've tried this several ways : - Uninstall from the Start> All programs>Uninstall HalionOne - Uninstall from extracted panel (where you get the options Repair, Modify,...) - Uninstall from the Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs
After reinstallation I had the same problem : no Halion. Nevertheless I found this name in the application folders.... So I suppose I have to start from scratch. But how ? How can I make a clean uninstall/install ? Thanks Paul

I was able to find the Locate Contents function, but did not find any contents in the C:/Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg folder. There were two subfolders, which also did not have content.
Going back the AppData folder -- would it be possible to replace just the HALionOne settings, without impacting the CS4's overall settings? Or to put it another way, is there something short of trashing _all_ files that would accomplish the task?

Hello,
To answer the above question about uninstall/reinstall. On XP, you should trash your application data folder contents, then go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and remove Cubase. Then reinstall from your disc.
To the second post. There is not a specific preference that I am aware, but if you want to experiment I would suggest starting with the VST files. If those don't cause a rescan, trash them again and trash the mediabay as well. I hope this helps.

"Trash all your application data folders" ---All of them ???? I find a lot of them in Documents & Settings : Administrator All Users Default User And there is a lot of stuff about other applications. Is this serious ?????? There were already accidents in threads above !!! Can you please confirm this ? ______________________________________ I have to uninstall Cubase Studio again ? Then install it from CD version 4.0 Then update to version 4.2.5 Then install HALion One I've done this twice, but I did not take the risk of the complete trashing...
Thanks Paul

Hello,
I'm sorry I should be more clear.
Go to the start menu, all programs, Cubase Studio 4, Cubase Studio 4 application data folder. Trash all the files and folders inside of the Cubase Studio 4 application data folder.

I don't want to experiment - I don't want to run the risk of again losing all my preferences and custom settings, and being out of commission (again). I was hoping you (Steinberg) could route the question to your tech team to get the answer: which file(s) needs to be deleted from AppData for the new HALionOne patches to be refreshed?
Surely this question can be answered by one of the developers, right?

Hello,
I would suggest trashing the Mediabay.db, Mediafactorydefaults.xml, VST2x blacklist.xml, VST2xplugins.xml, and the VSTplugin into.xml.
Thank you.
