Are you still working on this issue? I have fairly conclusive proof that Cubase LE is the problem. I can use my Firestudio with Cakewalk Sonar on my desktop. It works fine. Next, I downloaded a shareware DAW called Reaper. Set it up and it recorded the first attempt. I can see signal in both DAWs and they both record just fine. This is strong evidence that Cubase is the issue here. I would like to know if you guys are even working on this issue or not. Otherwise, I'm going to dump Cubase unless you guys come up with a solution to this issue. I was really hoping Cubase worked, as I am in the process of deciding whether to upgrade Sonar or switch to Cubase. If LE doesn't work with my interface, how can I expect any other version to work?

Hey nik, Did you get your issue resolved? I am still not able to use LE with my Firestudio Tube. I pretty much proved that it IS Cubase with the problem. The interface works great with Cakewalk Sonar and a shareware DAW called Reaper. I have signal in both DAWs and am able to record and playback just fine. Cubase is the problem here.

Hello,
Is Cakewalk using your ASIO driver or the WDM from the Presonus?

ASIO. The Presonus WDM driver is somewhat useless as it only shows two inputs and outputs. On my laptop, Reaper is also set to ASIO. The signal is nice and strong in both DAWs.

wow. i'm having the same problem. all the mic tests work fine through the presonus, but when it comes to the simple task of recording the input into Cubase LE4, it falls flat. Sounds like from what I'm reading that this was the wrong thing to buy.

Hey nik, I've been following your posts and posted something yesterday. I am also experiencing no signal to Cubase. The Control Panel button doesn't work for me either. I agree that it probably should link to FS Mixer. Maybe we can get some help here but I believe this is a Cubase problem and someone is going to have to correct some code before it works properly. I also use Cakewalk Sonar on a high power desktop and the Firestudio works fine. Cubase just doesn't work with the Firestudio. That's the real problem. I am disappointed because I was having visions of getting another one and linking it to the first one. With the way licensing is so tight, I can't even use the Firestudio with my laptop unless I buy a license for another DAW software. At least I know Cakewalk works with it.

I'm giving up on this. I've done a lot of research and the problem boils down to a sub-standard 1394 chipset in my brand new Dell laptop. I am pissed. I even tried a Belkin express card with a TI chipset and it doesn't work either. I also downloaded a DAW called Reaper and tried Reaper. For some reason Reaper does see the signal but because of the Ricoh chipset in my laptop, the signal drops and reconnects interrmittently. It worked long enought to record a test signal but then it started to act up. I also found that my desktop workstation has a TI chipset and the interface works fine with Sonar. This problem also appears to be industry wide in terms of firewire audio devices so I don't think there is any fix for any firewire device. I sent an email to Art about their Firetube 8 channel product but, of course, no response. This is a ridiculous situation and there are many, many unhappy folks our there because of it.
I guess my next step is to uninstall Cubase from my laptop and put it on my desktop. This really sucks.

Sorry everyone (anyone who actually reads this thread or has the same issues as I have had)...for a quick update...my laptop never did start working correctly, although after purchasing a PCMCIA 2 port 6 pin Firewire card rather than using my internal 4 pin port, I was able to get signal in & out of the FS and into Cle4, but after all of that it gives me a CPU overload message (??) So I have set that aside for now..too much time wasted..I am able to actually use my FS & Cle4 utilizing my desktop (3g ram, 2 ghz..full specs' and versions later)...and I'm finally pleased with both items..I can record up to 16 tracks at once, add my VST plug in's, automation, etc...so far so good...so back to the original issue (I haven't got a clue, neither does anyone else I think)..but I do feel the 4 pin to 6 pin firewire port could be a major factor (no one addressed this to me at any point..which may be a good reason for these user forums - we all learn)... I do still have issues when using my older ADAT machine - I have to switch to digital input on playback, and also have to make adjustments in the FS control panel going back & forth...but I do get it to work!

I'm sorry for all the trouble you are having with this. You may want to try 4.5, although there is nothing specific in the version history regarding firewire interfaces. Thank you.

I too am having a similar problem switching from LE 1.1 to LE4 4.1.3-. Uninstall reinstall and got it to work. Now the click track stopped working and sometimes playback stops if you walk away and come back it stops. It seems to be very similar to others.
PreSonus walked me through setting up the In/Outs (VST COnnections) but now no click track. this is essential as I am sending tracks to my drummer and KB player.
System: XP SP3 Core 2 2.44 4 GB Ram 750GB Drives Very efficient and fast system. only 165MB ram at startup. Runs LE 1.1 without issue mostly. Once and a while you hit record and nothing happens but otherwise fine.

Hello,
Well for the click track, go to Device, VST Connections, Outputs. In the far right, you should see a Click column. Be sure the click is on for your outputs. Thank you.
