Music Notation: Odd Symbols
      #8880 - 09/24/08 07:39 AM

Hello,

For some reason the music notation on my cubase le no longer displays notes and proper symbols like rests and treble clef signs. Instead I'm not getting phone and toaster icons. Can someone please tell me how to change it back? Thanks!
Using:
Dell xps system
1gig ram
160 hard drive

Hello,

What version of LE do you have installed?

I would suggest trashing application data. Go to the start menu, all programs, cubase le, cubase le application data folder. Trash all the files and folders in the application data.

Hi, thanks for responding. I didn't know there were different versions of LE. It came with the firepod that I purchased 3 years ago.

I went to Cubase Le through Start and All Programs, then Steinberg Cubase. But there is no "application" folder. What appears is: "Documentation" (which has "effects Parameters" "getting started" "operational manual" "the included VST instruments") Asio DirectX Full Duplex Setup" "Asio Multimedia Setup" "Cubase Le" "Uninstall").

Hello,

In Cubase, go to help, about. This should tell us the version.

It sounds like you might have LE 1, but even that should have application data.

Another way to get there is:

C drive/Documents and settings/(your user name)/Application data/Steinberg/Cubase LE.

Thank you.

Okay. I have Cubase 1.0.7

And once I get here: "C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase LE" there are two more folders: "Presets" and "Scripts." Should I trash everything in both of these??? "Scripts" has "Patchnames" and "Trackmixer" folders. "Presets" has "Logical Edit" and "Staff Settings" folders. And each of these have other folders. I don't need any of that???
Thanks again!

Trash all the files and folders inside of the LE 4 application data folder.

Ok. Thanks. But where is LE4? I don't see it in "Presets" or "Scripts" or any of the folders or files in either of these. Does "LE" stand for "Logical Edit"? And if so, the "logical edit" folder insides the "Presets" folder has three folders: "experimental" "standard set 1" and "standard set 2" and the xml document "INIT". That's it.
Thanks,

Hello,

Presets and Scripts are folders inside of the LE 4 application data folder.

Go to the Start menu, all programs, steinberg cubase le 4, cubase le 4 application data folder.

Trash the files and folders you find inside of this folder.

Okay. I did that. but it doesn't change anything. I still get icons of mailboxes and phones, etc., in place (or maybe overtop; it's difficult to see) of notes on the clefs. It's as if the normal notation has been replaced with some kind of wingding font.

Hello,

Are you on XP home, pro, or media center?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? Thank you.
