#6 (of I understand your reply)states that the Inspector and the Midi track mirrored each other. Let me know if I am still not clear on intent.

I did go to the Instrument Rack and did change the setting to all. Once completed, there was no change in result.

I am sending you a screen shot of the mixer so I can make certain the required settings are indeed correct.

The fader for the Midi track, according to my understanding, is on the mixer screen. I did raise it to 90%. No change in result...that is, no audio.

Is it unusual for one VSTi to work and another not?

Since other VSTi's work, that means it's a Halion3 issue. I don't use that plug so I'm at a loss as to what to suggest next.

I'd sign up at cubase.net and post in the Halion forum to see if other users can spot what the problem is.

Please accept my appreciation for trying so hard. I have learned from you.

A couple of things to try. Try setting the MIDI channel on the MIDI track to All. The only other thing is try loading a wav sample from the desktop into Halion3. You can download free one shot samples. This would tell you if you really had a sample loaded.

Bingo! Your last comment got my wheels turning...the solution was simple once determined! In the Halion window, select a sample, drag it to the program you want it in (there is a list of programs 1 - 128) and, presto, everything works.

You have shown graciousness in extending patience to me through this learning process. I, too, must extend graciousness when the door opens in the future.

I was reading last night about "brick walls"...do we say, "oh well, I can't go any further", or do we persevere? You persevered with me and I thank you.

Wow! Figuring out how to make software work is a piece of cake compared to that!

Again, many thanks.
