I understand mixing and mastering is complicated. I've mastered a project and included VST Dynamics on some tracks to boost. I want to boost the volume of the entire final master. If my master clips 1-2 times in the song, should I use VST limiter? How do I know what to set the limiter? Then, once the limiter is set, does that allow me to go back and increase the master level before export? Does any tutorial address volume boost specifically? Thanks, SB

you definitely want to avoid clipping. the overall process requires more than just raising volumes. The overall sound as a lot to do with adjusting certain frequencies with things like EQ or by using a multiband Compressor. I would recommend getting a book on mastering, or you can find a dvd set on this website addressing mastering.
Thanks
