Hello,

When we say that something is "not supported" what we mean is that we have not tested for and will provide solutions for that operating system. It is possible that Cubase will run on XP64 or Media Center...but when something goes wrong, there will not be very much we can do about it.

This is especially with Media Center. I have been a technical support agent for 4 years now, and I can tell you that 99% of the Media Center customers I have spoken with have had a different, unique problem. Often when I have an inexplicable problem and everything has been setup properly, and still there is a malfunction for no apparent reason, I remember to ask the user if they are on Media Center. For unique, unsolvable problems on the windows OS, I would estimate that Media Center is the culprit 80% of the time.
Often these problems relate to midi timing, audio functions, and even yesterday, I had a customer whose HalionOne would not show up in Cubase. I am not saying that Media Center will not work at all, but it is not a reliable OS to build a recording system on.

The only other suggestion I would make is to move your ignoreportfilter. Go to your C Drive, Program Files, Steinberg, Cubase, Midi Port Enabler. Inside this folder is a file called "ignoreportfilter" right click on this file and choose cut. Now press the back button your browser (so that you are back in the Cubase folder), right-click in a blank area, and choose Paste. This will paste the "ignoreportfilter" up one level.
Now re-open Cubase. You will no longer be able to use All Midi Inputs as the input for the midi track. You will want to use the specific midi port of your input, specifically the version that says "emulated" next to it. I hope this helps with your problem.

I know all about the Emulated ports Chris including which MIDI devices need them. The Firebox isn't one, they throw the timing off.

The things you are attributing to Media Center Edition are not caused by it at all. As a matter of fact, you are giving a lot of false information on these forums. I've been reading a lot of your posts and see this is so. If you'd go over to cubase.net, you'd see the Halion install problem is across the board for OSs.

I'm sad to see just how little "support" knows the program. It's too bad so much word of mouth info is being given out as truth.

Oh, and just because you say something is due to Media Center doesn't make it so. You can keep telling yourself it is, but it won't make it so.

There are easy fixes for the Halion One install problem. It's an update bug, not a MCE issue.

Oh, timing errors are caused by different drivers using different clocks. System Timestamp sorts it by using one clock. All Presonus kit needs that checked along with other devices. That's on any version of XP. I've answered enough questions at c.net to know.

There are certain devices that require Emulated ports but the symptoms are different. The same devices on any version of XP require their use.

I've done my homework and know of that which I speak.

Hello,

Thank you for your helpful information on this. I'm sorry but I think we'll have to agree to disagree with regard to Media Center.
