These controllers will not trigger HalionOne drum content consistantly.
I've been through every Pref setting in C4 to no avail and contacted Steinberg and Alesis with promises to check it out with no further communication.
I know my way around Cubase and have tried every possible setting one by one and in combination. It's been confirmed by other users at steinberg.net but I'm not too confident of a fix.
Just wanted to give a heads up so others know it's not them that can't get the two to work.
HalionOne is the only VSTi that does this. I've tried many and the Alesis works great with anything else I throw at it.

Hello,
How do you have everything setup inside Cubase between the HalionOne and your Alesis Pad Control?
Thank You,

Hi Josh, I've tried it every way possible. I've tried both MIDI and USB connections, I've tried all of the filters in Prefs along with the other MIDI settings.
It's not a set-up issue, HalionOne is the only VSTi that won't trigger from the pads. It will playback what you record from the controller. It just won't play in real time.
Do you guys have a DD55 or an Alesis controller to try it?

Hello,
I'm sorry but we don't have a DD55 here. Specifically, what other VSTi's work for you? What sound setting is HalionOne set on? Thank you.

Any HalionOne drum content triggers intermittantly. Sometimes one in twenty will sound, sometimes more, it depends on the patch.
Examples of VSTi's that work are any other Cubase plug, BFD, DFH, basically every other plug I've tried it with.
Like I've said, I've tried all possibilities re: settings. I know you probably hear that all the time, but in my case you can take it to the bank. I've installed the content on a seperate 7,200 RPM internal HDD just to eliminate seek problems and the like with no joy. I've gone through all of the MIDI Prefs one by one and in combination, also.
This is definately a HalionOne issue. Seeing as there is probably only one more update, I don't hold out much hope for it being fixed. When I hear a Yamaha subsidiary doesn't have a piece of gear and seems unwilling to go the extra step and get it, I have even less hope.
BTW, is Steinberg USA looking for a good tech support person? Can I tele-commute? I have a lot of experience at Cubase.net sorting problems and know the software pretty much inside out.

Hello,
Hmmm, intermittently. What patch, for example, do you have the most trouble with? It is only the drum patches?
When you moved the content to the 2nd drive did you do it from the disc or the original installation? Thank you.

Rock Standard 2 is a good culprit.
I have tried both ways of moving the content, selecting a different target via the install DVD and updates and via Windows and letting Mediabay scan the drive.

This isn't a Media Center Edition issue as it's been confirmed by other users with XP Pro.
Intemittant in this case means every hit doesn't equal a note being played. The behavior is very consistant as in always.

Hello,
It is my experience that almost everything on Media Center is a Media Center issue. Media Center is not a supported OS for Steinberg or any other pro audio company that I am aware of. This is because Media Center was designed with different multimedia parameters than Pro/Home and these changes cause unique system errors.
What XP Pro users have confirmed the problem? Does it only work intermittently upon entering the notes, or does it continue to be intermittent on playback? Thank you.

XP64 isn't supported but Cubase runs on it. I run LE, LE4, SX3 and C4 on Media Center with no issues aside from the known ones. This is not a Media Center issue.
It records and plays back fine, it's just triggering in real time that's the problem.
Vista has Media Center built in.
If you aren't going to try it then there's no sense in continuing this way.
What specific problems can be attributed to Media Center in your experience? I'd really like to know.
