Steinbergusers.com: Upgrading Groove Agent

Hi, Folks:

For some years, I've been using Groove Agent 2 with Pro Tools LE. Since I am a nylon-string guitarist by profession, I am very excited about the percussion additions on Groove Agent 3, so yesterday I received the upgrade. Today, I'm stumped about how to install this, for I want to use this primarily on my downstairs iMac rather than in the dual-G5 Mac in my studio. I understand that I have to move the dongle back and forth, but outside of that, I'm lost.

Do I need to install the old Groove Agent 2 on this iMac first? And, I do not have Pro Tools on this iMac, so I find myself wondering exactly what "stand alone" means for the Groove Agent 3 program. Do I need to have a sequencer program? If so, will my GarageBand work?

So, I want to put this upgrade on both computers, but for now, I want to play it on the iMac for the most part, to have a super practice tool. To this effect, I will probably make cd copies via iTunes, to use with the superb P.A. system I usually practice with. Or, perhaps, a very long cord from this iMac to the P.A. in the next room would give me a lot more flexibility. As a last possible option, I do have an old ThinkPad with Windows 98. Does anyone know offhand if that machine could be set up with this program, since using it with the P.A. would be a snap. For me, this would be ideal, since, even though this P.A. is small enough for me to set up myself, it has Millennia and Trident top-quality pre-amps, a Trident 8-channel mixer, Benchmark converters, Neumann and Schoep microphones, etc., etc. In other words, this is an audiophile P.A., absolutely wonderful, and I would love to run Groove Agent in it, mixed with my vocals and my custom-designed East/West Ramirez, the most beautiful classical guitar I've heard in my 45 years as a full-time pro. Of course, I'm hoping for some very special percussion sounds with this Groove Agent upgrade!

To say the least, any help toward getting this program working for me now would be greatly appreciated!
