Do any of you guy's use windows xp media center edition with Cubase 4? If yes, has windows performed well and or has there been any problems using Cubase with it? I ask cause it being the version of windows that cubase does not support.

We do not run Media Center in tests here at the office since it is unsupported. However, from talking to many users on Media Center it can be quite a disaster. The most odd and weird issues from users seem to generate from being on Media Center. If your machine has Media Center you need to install XP Home or Pro. Media Center is designed around the computer being a media hub for your home.

I HAD PROBLEMS SWITCHING FROM MEDIA CENTER TO XP PRO. IN FACT, I COULD NOT DO IT WITH THE GEEK SQUAD HELP. MEDIA CENTER IS AN UPGRADE OFF XP PRO AND NOT THE OTHER WAY. SO IF YOU HAVE ABOUT 6 HOURS FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS YOU MIGHT FIND THE DRIVERS FOR YOUR XP PRO ONCE THE MEDIA CENTER IS GONE. I END IT UP GETTING THE HOME VISTA 32bit AND THE UPGRADE IS FLAWLESS. IN SPITE ALL THE MISTERY OF VISTA I HAVEN'T GOT ANY PROBLEMS. AT LEAST I AM ABLE TO RECORD MIDI IN REAL TIME AND THE NOTES ARE PLACED JUST WHERE I PLAY THEM. I COULDN'T WITH MEDIA CENTER. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT I HAD WITH THE MEDIA CENTER WAS THAT THE VOLUME FLUCTUATION. DIEGO.

I have been using Nuendo 3.2.1 with XP ME, and it has not been a problem. I do NOT use the ME features, and I really only bought it because they had some deals running and, at the time, I was not aware of the compatibility issues. I think that if you avoid the ME features, and turn off as much of it as possible, Nuendo and Cubase work fine (well, at least v. 3). I too have been contemplating the move v. 4 (Nuendo, but the compatibility issues appear to be similar). Would love to hear if others are successfully using v. 4 with ME.

I've installed LE1, LE4, SX3 and C4 all on the same boot partition and had no issues with XP/MCE other than the known issues with the software.
MCE is a convienant scapegoat for support not knowing answers. When I set up my DAW I had issues that support attributed to MCE. It turned out they were all caused by other things like not having a TI chipset for my firewire device, MIDI jitter on Personus kit being junk and needing System Timestamp to sort it, etc..
I run C4 and it's stable as can be.
