cubase essential 4 upgrade ate LE files
      #6410 - 04/05/08 05:58 PM

I finished upgrading from Cubase LE to Essential 4. when I went to my Cubase project file all of the LE tracks were changed to Essential 4. all the midi and other sound effect data on the LE files is gone. almost all the LE tracks that stayed were Audio tracks. most of them are corrupted. my song projects are all full of missing parts, latency, voices slowed down.
it is a nightmare.

where have my LE files gone to?
are they lost?
did Essential 4 eat them?

Open Cubase LE and use File-->Open and see if you can open your projects this way. They should at least still open in LE as they used to.

yes. Cubase LE still works. I can begin a new project and all. however, all my previous LE projects have been corrupted by Cubase Essentail 4. all the midi tracks are empty. all the files have a new heading. instead of Cubase LE it is Cubase Essential 4.

I guess I just have to continue to move forward and not ever go back.

Yes, once you open and save a project in Cubase Essential 4 you can not go back and open it properly in Cubase LE. If you open an LE project in Essential 4 you can always use 'Save As' and create a new project file so you still have your old LE project file as well.
