After working with the Presonus tech support and finally getting all drivers & firmware updated - I am still not getting signals into Cubase LE 4. The tech support verified I had all connections & set-up's done properly and finally said it was a Cubase issue..please help! I run my mic's/lines through a Mackie 32 x 8, then the first 8 analog channels into the Presonus Firestudio, then next 8 channels I run thru an older ADAT, thru the optical line into the Presonus for a total of 16 tracks, then thru a 6 pin to 4 pin Firewire conection on my Toshiba laptop (Windows XP Pro 2002, SP 2, 2 GHz, 2G ram)..I get signals showing in the Presonus Firestudio Control Console, the ports show up active in Cubase LE 4 (I have downloaded the Version # 2& the hot patch #3)..the device setting is correct, driver is set, the project info is correct...why are these not talking together.. I know it may be something simple that I am either not doing or doing incorrectly..I'm also afraid to uninstall Cubase as I had such a time with the Syncrosoft elicense - if the answer is to uninstall, will the license stay on my system or will that trouble start all over...sorry, just trying to cover all bases here...Leaving work now, can be in my studio in front of my system by 4:45PM (ET) if anyone can help me..thanx Nik

Ok, after all my issues, the Presonus tech has me up & running on his gear and now says that the problem is with Cubase..of which the support phone number that I call says they only do support for Cubase LE 4 over their Stienburgusers.net forum, no actual tech's to talk with...and I've gone into this forum in which they tell me is where the support is and..wait for it...right, no one answers here either..(after waiting for help in Cubase.net forums)
Is LE 4 the bottom of their food chain so no one supports it...(waiting for you to pay more to "maybe" get an upgrade that works),,I mean if LE 4 doens't work on my system, why upgrade?
Is my problem too obvious and everyone thinks I can figure it out on my own? I've checked every knowledge base, every forum thread, every manual, every detail - when the Presonus guy gives up - what am I supposed to do?
I know I'm venting..I sound like some of the other "crazed" poster's out there..but I've been trying to get this working every day & night for two weeks (after paying good money) and I can't get a single note recorded..
I'll give it one more night in hoping someone (you'd think some one from Steinburg!) would help me here..if not, back this stuff goes for a refund & I'll purchase another product line... thanx

Hello,
Are you still having trouble getting LE4 to open? Is it stalling on the protection? Inside the License Control Center do you see an SeL and with a key for LE4? What operating system are you on? Thank you.

First, thanx for even answering...I thought I was alone on here...lol Ok, I get LE 4 to open fine, everything looks like it's working correctly..reading the correct driver, seeing & connecting to the inputs/outputs, setting up the busses & connecting to the proper channels..I get no signal coming into cubase though..zilch, nada..the meters are working in the Firestudio Console(both analog & adat channels)..I eve checked maybe it needed to be actually recording, but still no sound/levels... I had issues at first with the FS, then after help with a tech there, & driver updates..it's now working...so may last chance effort tonight was to uninstall LE 4, then do a complete reinstall (I didn't think it would matter since it's reading the new driver..but I'm a newbie..soo..) Doing this I was worried about the elicense issues...when I did this before (going from LE 1 to LE 4) I couldn't activate LE 4 as the older license had "expired".and I could not remove the license..I see where the wizard should allow this, but it would not let me high light the license to remove..reactivate..anything..it was like it was stopping one step short of allowing any changes..so by uninstalling..am I looking for trouble here? (I now have the full activation for my LE 4 - first install)
Thanx again..I know it takes people's time here..and I too have been trying to help any newbie's with what little info I have..ya gotta pay it forward..

I did the uninstall/reinstall session last night--still same results..
Notes: I get the steady blue light on the FS, I get meters/signal in the FS, and with the latest update (drivers/firmware) I now have a Conrol Panel. This has some of the same info as shown on the Hardware tab of the Control Console - but they are not in sync together..I have to adjust one to the other (Is this a coding issue, or standard?)
Also, in Cubase under the Devices/Set up, there is a "Control Panel" button...according to the Cubase info I've read, this will bring up a control panel that is different for each hardware manufacturer's device...but nothing happens when I click on this...so I'm thinking, this is where the FS's Control Panel should actually be linked to? (Make sense? Again this could be evidence of coding issues between the two)
While in Cubase, after I set my FS's hardware tab & control panel to "lock sample rate to WDM & ASIO", Cubase will automatically see that a rate change has been made and will adjust, so they are "reading" each other..I think (remember, I'm a newbie!)
So (IMO)..it looks like (unless the above coding issues prove to be a much larger issue overall) that everything is working correctly..which means this could be "operator error" - in set up..somewhere/somehow..But I've checked every item, reviewed it all with the Presonus tech support (to verify) and nothing seems to stick out as incorrect.
If you can look at my screen shot, ask for any other shots that may indicate other issues, please do so..we may find out where I'm going wrong here...
PS: I don't know if you have "go-to-assist" or other remote application to "shadow" my screen & actually take control of my mouse to see my set up..if so let me know..I'll call you so we may talk this thing through..lol
again I appreciate your time involved - thank you!

Ok, so things look like they should be working be all accounts, but lets try breaking this down into a much more simple idea.
First of all, go to File, New Project, and select empty. Save it to any directory. Go to File, Import, Audio File, and import a commercial audio file from the your PC (My Docs, My Music, Sample Music, Beethoven). Choose the option to copy and convert the file. Turn off record enable and monitor enable on the audio track and hit play. Do you hear audio?
One key from your screen shot is that you have to control the mixer of the Presonus, and turn on your 1/2 analog outputs so that you hear playback from daw 1 and 2.
Assuming you get audio from Beethoven, go to project, add track, and add a mono audio track. Connect a microphone to the first input on the FS, and put the audio track in record enable and monitor enable. Now you should see signal in Cubase. If not, please let me know. I hope this helps.

I'm not getting any audio playback from Ludwig...the audio images are there, but no levels are showing up on the meters in Cubase or the Firestudio Console.
Under the Mixer Tab in the FSCC, I set the first mix to allow all analog channels to Output, Then in the Output Matrix tab, I monitor that mix with the headphones..
Maybe I'm doing something wrong here..or this is where the problem is occuring - from my understanding, even if I don't have the FSCC mix matrix set up correctly (which I may not..sort of confusing, but I think I got it)..but I should still see the signal (meters move) in cubase for this pre-recorded material shouldn't I?
Jon Scholl @ Presonus has been working with me on this, step by step set up & verifying my connections/patching...he seems to think it's a Cubase issue, not (of course) their hardware, or my set up.
But with this new trial you had me run through, does this point to something maybe outside both systems, and more directly to a setting on my computer?
I do appreciate your help here...I hope it's just a small error I'm making and with your guidence, you can steer me through it..thanx Nik

Hello,
Can you send a screen shot of your FSCC? And a screen shot of the project in Cubase? Thank you.

Chris - This is what I have, let me know if you need more info. (369 kb file size) Pic shows both screens (FSCC & the CB LE 4 windows - Device set up, VST Connections, Mixer and Channel info)...has it all I think.
Hopefully you can get me up & running..soon??
