midi notes play and display early when using vsti
      #6094 - 03/17/08 11:55 AM

when i use vsti my notes are recorded early. (exactly a 16th off.) I am using a m-audio midisport 2x2 interface with updated drivers. A alesis multimix audio interface. I have tried all sorts of adjustments. Is this a software or hardware problem? chrisw1330@hotmail.com

Hello,

Try this -

1. Close Cubase
2. Open My Computer - C drive - Program Files - Steinberg - Cubase* - MIDI Port Enabler folder.
3. In the MIDI Port Enabler folder, right click on the ignoreportfilter file and select CUT.
4. Select the Back button in the window.
5. Right click in a blank area in the Cubase* folder and select Paste.
6. Open Cubase
7. On a MIDI track you will notice doubled listings in the Input Routing dropdown menu in the Inspector column. One listing will say (emulated) beside it. Specifically select the 'emulated' port (not All MIDI Inputs) and you should not have any MIDI not shifting issues when recording.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your advise. I have tried this before and it didnt work for me. I am using sx3. When I go to midi port enabler folder i dont have file called ignoreport filter. However I have been told this solution before and was suggested i move the file 'enableemulated' FOLDER
up to main folder. So i was able to get emulated ports TO SHOW but this did not solve the problem. I think it could be the m-audio midi interface. Can you advise midi interface i could buy that may work better with cubase. Or any other adjustments I can make to the softwaRE. tHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME.....

Hello,

That's odd that you have no ignoreportfilter file on your system. If you reinstall SX3, you should find that file in the MIDI Port Enabler folder. It's possible that you may need that file there in order for MIDI to record properly. Some MIDI interfaces need that file and some do not.

It's possible that the MIDI interface and/or it's drivers are not transmiting the information accurately, but I'd first see if you could get SX3 installed and try recording MIDI with the ignoreportfilter folder inside the MIDI Port Enabler folder and if that doesn't work, cut and paste the ignoreportfilter file to the Cubase SX 3 folder and try recording MIDI using the emulated port.
