Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help me here, or at least say they've experienced the same problem...
When I record my midi keyboard into Sonar Home Studio 4 or Sonar 6 Producer Edition, I get the midi signal, and it plays perfectly through the Grand vst on playback, even when I change the piano model.
However, when I export the audio to wav, the result is a very jumpy or stuttery sound. It always works fine with BFD or NI Elektrik Piano, or other vst stuff, but it has not worked once for the Grand vst, on either version of Sonar. I've tried different soundcards (Alesis io2 and Line 6 UX2), and it's always the same - jumpy and stuttery.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a secret I'm yet to learn about converting this fantastic sounding vst instrument to audio?
Any help would be great...

How much RAM do you have installed in your computer. The Grand takes up quite a bit of RAM when you have all the quality settings on high.

2 Gig of RAM - hopefully that's not the issue! I upgraded the RAM from 1 Gig when Elektrik Piano started asking for more.
I tried reinstalling The Grand 2 last night, but exactly the same thing happens. Not sure what to try next...

OK - this is getting strange. I've refined the problem a little...
It appears that the reason the audion becomes stuttery is that whatever software I'm using (Sonar 4, Sonar 6, Cubase, Podium), it's not recording the sustain pedal from my Casio CDP-100 keyboard, hence the choppy sound.
This is strange because I can hear the sustain pedal working in the monitoring headphones whilst playing, but not in the playback AFTER it's been converted to audio (or even before in the case of Podium). What's stranger is that the sustain pedal appears to be working fine for Elektrik Piano, and can be converted to audio without problem.
Why would The Grand 2 recognise the sustain pedal for the monitoring, but not send the appropriate signal to the software for recording into the MIDI track?
Am I missing something here? Is it even an issue with The Grand, or something else. It only seems to be The Grand having the problem...

OK, I think I've had some success - here's the rundown for others experiencing the same frustration (I've found a few posts around the internet on the same thing)...
I'm not great with MIDI stuff, but apparently it's something to do with what values are used to represent the sustain pedal controller commands. Here's the best thing to do:
1. Download MFX Sustain Fix from http://www.tencrazy.com/gadgets/mfx/ and install it.
2. Create the MIDI track for The Grand.
3. Right click in the effects bin and choose the Ten Crazy MIDI effect. When it opens up, choose the top two options.
4. Record the MIDI track as normal. When you export it to audio, it now works!
Like I said, I'm not well versed on MIDI stuff, so I'm not sure if the issue is with The Grand or Sonar or my keyboard, but this fix seems to work fine. I love the sound of The Grand - it's truly an exceptional piece of software.
