Changing VST Connections should not effect whether or not the Inspector column shows up or not in the project window. What version of Cubase do you have? What operating system are you using? What version of the operating system do you have installed? Are you on a MAC or PC?

It happens as soon as I click on the ASIO Multimedia Driver (output) and the same is true for Input but it doesn't happen if I click on any of the Input or Output Ports.

The ASIO Multimedia driver is a generic ASIO driver. There could be a compatibility issue with that driver and your current computer configuration.
What sound card or audio interface are you using?

I'm using a 32bit kernel of the latest Windows OS (non-server) however before I was using a server variety, which may explain some of the strange behaviour I was experiencing previously.
I don't believe this thing which is happening right now with the Inspector is a pressing issue at this time but it may cause problems later. Mainly what I am finding at this time is that every time I change system, ie., flavour of Wndows, that I have to continually restart my projects by copying and pasting all the content in terms of MIDI information including the "tracks" themselves as it were and always when I do this some get bunched up at the beginning of the song and I think this may be to do with the issue of which is outlined in the following post:

Thank you

So you are using the latest 32 bit version of Windows Vista then?
Let me know if I'm understanding you correctly: When you open your project on different computers, are the MIDI events being shifted to the beginning or are the MIDI notes inside the MIDI events being shifted to the beginning?

Hi Brad,
The parts themselves are being shifted to the beginning and the behaviour appears to be somewhat "random" since I can never know which parts it will be after I copy and paste them into a new project.
There are no problems with the parts themselves, ie., notes and all track information such as the notepad and instrument are retained, which I am very happy about but I'd like to know how I can program a track so that all parts on a particular track appear where I intend them to be and not have to extend each part back to the beginning in order to stop this unwanted behaviour.
Thanks again for your time.

Are you using the 32 bit version of Windows Vista or the 64 bit version?
You can try this:
1. Close Cubase 2. Open the Program Files folder on your C drive. 3. Open the Steinberg Folder 4. Open the Cubase folder 5. Open the MIDI Port Enabler folder 6. Right click on the ignoreportfilter file and select CUT. 7. Hit the Back button in the window. 8. Right click inside the Cubase folder and select PASTE.
When you follow these instructions, you are cutting and pasting the ignoreportfilter file from the MIDI Port Enabler folder to the Cubase folder.
9. Then open Cubase
You will notice 2 listings for the same MIDI input in the MIDI input routing dropdown menu in the Inspector column. One will have (emulated) next to it. Select the proper MIDI input that has (emulated) next to it and record using that port and see if you still have any MIDI data shifting when recording.
Hope this helps.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for your reply.
Interesting that and on that particular subject since I am only using a mouse to do all music programming, how can I have the program register Not Connected for all input routing on newly created MIDI tracks since I only ever switch it off anyway.
In regard to the Inspector maybe that is something which can be fixed on a subsequent maintenance update but I was wondering too why when I throw a .dll file into the VSTPlugin's folder of Steinberg, that upon updating the relevant plug-in's list that after I have deleted any such Dynamic Link Library from the folder and updated the list again that it still appears in the VST Instruments sublist?
Thanks again for your time and best regards.

Where you able to follow the steps in the previous post? If so, did that effect the issue that you were having?
