I'm getting lots of drop-outs as I try to add more tracks. I'm using a Focusrite Saffire and I have tried adjusting the latency down to 5 but I just get lots of crackling etc. I have recorded a Pianoteq track and an EZdrummer track as well as bass and brass on Halion plus two audio tracks - a vocal and an electric guitar. The drop-outs occur mostly when the brass and guitar come in. When I first played back the piano track it was out of time until I adjusted the latency to 10. The timing has been fine since but as I have added more tracks I'm getting the drop-outs etc. I have tried all four settings from 5 to 20 with varying levels of problems on each setting.

To reduce pops and clicks during playback, you actually need to raise the audio buffer or latency setting in your sound card/audio interface software. Also check you CPU / ASIO performance meter on the Transport bar. Having a lot of VST plugins active in Cubase can cause the CPU to spike. If this is case, you can use the Freeze function to freeze the audio or VST Instrument tracks. Doing this unloads the plugins or VST instruments without effect what you hear during playback.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I checked the CPU performance meter and it was spiking at the point where the drop-outs were happening. So now I just need to find the Freeze function - I've looked everywhere and can't find it and I can't find anything in the manual. It's probably somewhere obvious but could you let me know please? Thanks
