Scroll Wheel
      #5240 - 01/05/08 05:26 PM

Hi,

Can someone please tell me why when scrolling in a project that sometimes it changes the colour of the tracks or the presets of instruments and other parameters which have their own method(s) of changing their values?

Thank you

The scroll wheel is simply doing the job it was intended for in and outside of Cubase.

You can quickly and easily browse the parameters in many lists and fields within a Cubase project, using the scroll wheel. This is very useful as long as you are aware of what you have last selected and what your cursor is hovering over, and therefore what any action you take may be affecting.

If your cursor is over the track color parameter, the scroll wheel will scroll through the track colors.

In my view this kind of behavior isn't really necessary because it's not so much a feature of which one could say is very helpful, since it only makes things more difficult in relation to navigating a project and often it dials up the wrong information and one must therefore reload a given project so I'd like for there to be an option to turn it off.

Another thing which I find most annoying is when I "right-click" in the part display sometimes it changes the sizing of the object selector and I can't see any reason why it should.

Please address my concerns.

Thank you

Regarding the scroll wheel, you just need to be aware of what you have last selected and what your cursor is hovering over.

Could you give me a specific example of when the object selector changes size when you right click on something in Cubase? What do you right clicking on?

Thanks.

Hi Brad,

About the Object Selector, it seems to happen intermittently and as for the scroll wheel, I know it is the correct behavior, however I would like an option to turn it off in a project completely.

Thanks

I have been unable to recreate the scroll wheel issue here. If it happens again, let us know what you do right before it happens.

It could be an issue with how your display card is functioning in relation to the scroll wheel. Random display changes suggests that there is a performance issue with the display card. Try downloading and installing the latest drivers for the video card that you have installed.

Hope this helps.

The problem with having scrolling available for any and all parameters in a project is that in relation to arrange windows, which bear long "lists" of tracks; it means that one must avoid moving the cursor over certain areas of the display, in order to avert an inadvertent patch change and this in my view is very counter productive, as often there is no way of turning back or applying any form of Undo.

As for the Object Selector issue, that often happens when I right-click in an open area of the project window, i.e., where no parts are present.

I'd also like to know why when using the Arrow Keys to navigate down the list of tracks in a project, that it doesn't seem to follow any particular order of navigation and appears to be quite random.

Thank you

I've tested the up and down arrow keys with a track selected in the Project window and it functions perfectly. Using the arrow keys allow me to select a track above or below the one currently selected. Am I understanding you correctly?

Hi there,

Yes what you have described is correct, however I cannot do that myself with any great certainty, i.e., the behavior is not repeatable.

Thank you

Unfortunately I'm not able to recreate the problem here. What version of Cubase do you have installed currently? Also, what version of the operating system do you have? Windows XP Home, XP Media Center Edition, XP Professional or Windows Vista?
