Here's my issue, I bought a Motu 8pre and connected it via firewire to my P.C. to record on Cubase Studio 4. I ran that setup for months with no issues. Then my needs out-grew the 8 audio inputs that provided so I bought another 8pre and daisy chained it to my existing 8pre. The two 8pre's sync up fine when I first start up my P.C. but as soon as I open up cubase the light on the second 8pre I added on starts blinking and will not recognize the 8 additional audio inputs. Needless to say this is a problem. I'd appreciate any advice I can get.

Thanks for writing. Can I ask, how are you sync'ing the 2 MOTU 8-pre's? To me, it sounds like a hardware concern. With some additional information, I can assist in figuring this out for you. In that past, I've ran 2 RME Frieface 800's with no problem, seeing all inputs/outputs. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Brian thanks for the reply, The original 8pre is connected direct to my P.C. via firewire. The second 8pre is daisy chained directly to the first 8pre via firewire. As far as I understand it these Motu devices are supposed to recognize each other and sync up automaticaly after connecting them with a firewire cable. Like I said previously the devices sync up fine when I initially start up my computer, it isnt until I open up Cubase that they fall out of sync. Cubase does recognize all inputs/outputs for both devices I just cant get any response from the second 8pre when trying to record. My P.C. is running Windows Vista if that makes any differance for this scenario.

If you open your Motu mixing software (cuemix) does it see both units? You may have to enable the second device in the Motu software.
