I am a complete newbie to cubase and im having serious troublegetting any kind of sound or sound signal. I have a laptop with windows xp and an edirol fa-66 audio interface attached by firewire. Through these ive got a pair of monitor speakers in the outputs and a condenser mic in the inputs. I am sure ive got the right bussing in the device set up menu and have tried every possible combo but cannot get any sound when recording. the audio int. is set up correctly as i have no trouble playing cds through the monitors. I feel I am missing something blatantly obvious and need some help so i can get underway putting down some guitar.
please someone help me im getting really stressed!

Go to devices then device setup then click on VST multitrack. Make sure you have the edirol driver selected. Then go to devices then vst inputs and make sure your inputs are active. are you able to play back a file in cubase?

there is nothing called vst multitrack in the device setup menu or any thing called vst inputs. I imported a cd into cubase but could get no sound when playing back.

Hello,
Go to Devices, Device Setup, VST Audio System. On the upper right, what is selected as the ASIO driver? Make sure this is set to your sound card's driver, Then hit ok out that menu. Go back to Devices and go to VST Connections. Now select the inputs tab. Make sure that you have created inputs and that they are connected to the sound card driver and the proper device port. Now add an audio track to the project and make sure it is set on the correct input and you should be good to go. Let me know if you have any trouble with this.
