Best interface A/D converters?

I've been using the E-Mu1820m but it is currently in need of repair. Is there an Audio Interface out there with better A/D converters? The E-mu sounds great but this model has been dicontinued and I'm wondering if I should invest elswhere for around 500.00.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for as to inputs and outputs. There's products from Emu, Presonus, M-Audio, Alesis, Yamaha, and more.
How many inputs are you looking for? How many outputs? Do you have a preference on mic pres/line inputs? # of Analog vs. # of ADAT digital inputs? Thank you.
