I was wondering if anyone can help me with syncing issues with the presonus firestudio. I have re-installed the drivers and also have updated WINXP firewire drivers and fixes. I also have spoken to presonus tech support and still getting no where. I am in the process of installing a separate hard drive specifically for cubase and presonus firestudio. I am not sure what else to do. It seems the soundcard will work for a while then it will start blinking red and out of sync project loss forever. Any ideas or suggestions you may have would be great. In addition where do you suggest a noob can get resources for using CUBASE properly? I am willing to do anything to learn how to use the program as it is intended I have purchase several DVD’s and books but they seem a bit overwhelming. Please help. Thank you Abe Colon New Haven, CT |

Hello Abe, Are you connecting to a firewire PCI card or a firewire port on the motherboard? What other devices do you have connected to firewire or the PCI bus? What is the processor in the system? What version of XP are you (home, pro, media center)? I have a firestudio myself, but I haven't had this problem. Are you using any devices through the ADAT ports? Thank you. |

I hate to state the obvious, but is your firewire cable connection tight and not being jiggled by vibrations, or some other cable laying over it. I'm speaking from experience, it just happened to me a few days ago. Good Luck Mike |

Thank you for the reply it seems after installing a new hard drive dedicated for cubase and presonus the firesudio is working correctly. I think there was a conflict in my drivers I will keep you posted. |

Interesting that a new hard drive would solve it. Was your hard disk meter peaking in Devices, VST Performance? Glad to hear its working. |

I believe there were soundcard driver conflicts. The original hard drive had soundblaster audigy and many gaming programs. After trying many diffrent options I decided to go with a seperate new hard drive for cubase and presonus and created a dual boot system with the motherboard. The result has been great both cubase and the firestudio are working great. |
