Latest Problem

I never thought this was going to be such a problem. First i had Vista problems, now back to XP.
Then I found that there was a problem with my Lexicon USB mixer in that the MIDI return is not being fed back to my drum module. So purchased a PCI card instead. Next problem is that the drumming is all over the place. Either I have suddenly lost the ability to play this instrument in time or the program is not recording properly. Is this likely to be a RAM problem or set up? I only have 256meg running XP. Do I now need to splash out on 1gig of RAM. Also if I record an audio track and then a MIDI track they are not in sync.!!

Hello,

What sound card you using now? What is the input latency in Devices, Device Setup, VST Audio System? When you first play the midi with the audio, does it sound in time? Are you triggering an internal virtual instrument or an external sound module? Thank you.

Re: Latest Problem

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply.
The sound card is an M-Audio audiophile 2496.Input Latency is 6.531ms and output 6.485ms.Im triggering my external Roland drum module.
If I set it all up and just play the drums through the system. i.e. local off. MIDI output to computer, thru Cubase (input and output level meters ok) back to drum box and then headphones it sounds fine. But when recorded the playback is all "jerky". Ive found another strip of RAM in a machine at the office so now I have 512megs. So that must be enough. If I record the drum module as an audio track it is also fine. Its as if it cant process the MIDI info fast enough somtimes when writing to disk.

Re: Latest Problem

Hello,

More likely it is a problem with Midi Timing. There are a couple of things you can do in this scenario. First I would suggest checking your System Timestamp. Go to devices, device setup, Windows MIDI and check the option "Use system timestamp." Then record a new midi event and see if it stays in time. Thank you.
