Recording /Playback

Setup appears fine-tests pass. Using Firebox. I start to record(say 5 seconds worth), and when I hit stop, the recording length shrinks to about 1 second- plus there is no audible playback.Why is it shrinking, and why no playback? thanks for any help.

Hello,
Are you referring to latency? Inside Cubase please go to devices, device setup, vst multitrack, and increase your buffer size to 256.

This is not latency. I begin recording at say the 5 second mark, a red band appears indicating record is in progress, I stop after 5 more seconds(the 10 second mark).As soon as I hit the stop record button, the red band that should be 5 seconds in length, is now LESS THAN A SECOND IN LENGTH, not even reaching the 6 second mark. Very strange.
