Recording Midi to Audio

I have a midi track which I'd like to record onto an audio track. When I set the midi track to play through my keyboard (synth), and record on the audio track, it works fine. But what if I want to use one of the synths built into Nuendo? For example the drum synth. How can I get the midi track to play through the builtin VST and record it on an audio track?

First of all, make sure that you select the desired VSTi as the MIDI out on your MIDI track. If you want to export the entire MIDI event on that track, you can simply select the event and then hit Ctrl + r and the Export Audio Mixdown Window will appear. Be sure to select the folder where you want the file to wind up, and carefully choose the output that corresponds to your virtual instrument, along with import to Pool and Track, press start and your track will be turned into an audio track in your project.

Hi...when I hit "control r", up pops a manuscript window...
I have to go to file...
I know there's a way to directly record the midi info to an audio track without using the Export function...I just can't remember, and the PDF was not helpful.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hello,
Using the Export function is the way to record the audio from a VSTi or Rewire device within Cubase. Unless you are using an external sound module, in which case you would connect the audio outputs from that module to an audio channel. For internal instruments, Export is the best way.
