Side Chain in Nuendo

I've been trying to figure out a way to side chain in Nuendo. Can anyone give me any idea how to start this process.

Thanks.

Re: Side Chain in Nuendo

If you just want to side chain a stereo signal it's not too difficult, however you need a plugin that can be sidechained like the Voxengo Crunchessor. What you do is put the plugin in a Quadro group channel, route the signal you want to compress to the 2 front channels of the group and the route the keying input to the 2 rear channels by way of the key channel's surround panner. Press the sidechain button on the crunchessor and you're on your way.

Problem there is you are limited to the ducking/keying fx (which are basically like a sidechained gate and the reverse) that are built into sidekick, rather than creating a routing to a compressor or other plugin that accepts sidechaining.

This seems like a great effect and/or tool on its own though.

As far as I can tell crunchessor still seems like the most sidechain compliant comp. Has anyone found any better plugs for this purpose yet?

Re: Side Chain in Nuendo

Hi guys,

dB audioware has just released 2 plugs, but it is possible to use the sidechaining features in Nuendo/Cubase.

Here are some tutorials:
http://www.audiocourses.com/article1752.html
http://www.audiocourses.com/article1748.html
1 for sidechaining a compressor, and the other for a gate.
For sure, plugin should be capable of sidechaining. And luckily there are more than couple of 'em.
