update installation troubles

I ordered and received Cubase Essential 4.
I have the disc, the activation key, the codes, the manuals. I read everything. I downloaded and installed the 3.1 windows update as instructed.
when I insert the disc nothing happens. I do not see the icon CubaseEssential4 to click on. I cannot get through installation, LLC, activation....nothing.
what is going wrong? do I have a faulty disc?
can anyone explain the correct steps I should be taking to install my upgrade.
help please.

problem solved. I was directed to go to Programs and look in Drive. there was the CubaseEssential4.m icon. I clicked there and installation began. then I was able to go to LCC. so I am all set.
now I have to re sequence my midi keyboard and interface.
and learn this new program. it looks very different than Cubase LE. there is a steeper learning curve here I can tell.,
