recording/playback with usb

I have a MO8 connected to the MW8cx which is connected to a windows xp laptop. I installed the ASIO driver and yet I'm not able to get any sound recorded into Cubase. Can anyone give me any assistance?

Go to devices and device setup.Select VST Audio System. Switch to the Yamaha driver. VST connections default to a stereo in and a Stereo out, so you should be able to hear something. Import an audio file and test playback first. If you are hearing in through the mixer, then try recording audio.
