AI problems connecting to N12

It has happened a few times that I have had a problem with AI linking up properly with the N12. Today for some reason when I booted up AI it went through a rather long initalition before it booted up...then althought signals where coming into the N12..the "link" light was not on and none of the controls from the N12 would work..I rebooted everything..still no connection..I then did a reset (from the shortcut on the toolbar that tells you the N12 is connected) and it worked. As far as I can tell..I had not done anything from the last time I used the system when it worked.Any ideas on why this would occur?

Sometimes when hardware devices act up it is best to 'reset' them. Sometimes this also can mean restarting your machine. Firewire especially sometimes can loose connection - although not often but is not uncommon from time to time.
