When you add a clip to your montage it is not appearing in the Files list? How many clips do you have in your Montage? Every clip in your montage should appear in the Files list (on the File tab). Depending on how many files you have in your montage you may need to scroll down on the files list. Is this file not showing on the Files list preventing the montage from working properly?
