Recording down to CD - coming out @ -10db
      #4186 - 09/27/07 12:51 PM

I have been recording down to CD format utilizing Wavelab. I have noticed that the recording is always coming out at -10db. I do not see anything in the manual about adjusting the level to 0 db. Does someone know what my issue is?

What version of Wavelab are you using? are you just bringing the files in and burning them? are you using any effects?

I am using Wavelabs v5.0. I am down loading a mix off of Nuendo 3.1 and then puling the file up from Wavelab to burn to CD. I have checked all the settings I can find in Nuendo and I don't see anything that sets the level to -10db. Mater of fact - if I pull the file into my Zen, the level is the same as any other song I have on the Zen. However, when I put the cd in my cd player in the studio and listen to the playback - I notice the levels are at -10db. The commercial cds playback at 0db, so I know it is something I am doing or should option. Thanks - Rob

You'll need to some sort of mastering step in wavelab before you burn to adjust things, using effects like eq and compression and shaping the sound where you can raise the over all level without clipping.

CD menu [Re: jeffdeno]

Love WaveLab 6 and just finished mastering a complex 12 track CD, BUT for the life of me I can't seem to find the 'pull down CD menu' mentioned in the manual so I can test & burn this.
This is my 1st time burning a CD from w/in WL.

are you working in an audio montage or a basic audio cd?

I understand what you are suggeting - however, I wouldn't think I would need to pump up the levels to cut a CD. I would think that if I dropped down a mix out of Neundo close to a 0.db, that I could burn a CD and be relatively close to the same 0.db. I keep thinking its a setting I am over-looking.

when you have a basic audio cd active you should see a CD menu at the top right next to analayse. however if you have something else select that when wouldn't appear.
