I am wondering if anyone has used Cubase VSTi, like HALion, in a live setting. That is, playing the VSTi using a MIDI keyboard live in real time (not sequenced). Does anyone have any ideas on how viable this might be? I am seriously considering adding VSTi to my live gear, instead of another hardware synth. Thanks! (I apologize if you've read this post in another section of the forums. I have gotten no response to my questions, so far.)

If you have a fast laptop and a nice audio interface, you can treat a VST instrument in Cubase just like an external sound module. However, if you load too many VST instruments in a project, you may run a higher risk of having performance issues (especially if you are playing a very large patch.).
Still, overall, it's very common for people to use VST instruments in a live setting.

Thanks, Brad! I believe i will try it out. The investment is relatively small (compared to investing in a hardware module). I will probably only need to use one VSTi at a time, so it sounds like my chances for success are pretty good. I'm using a 2 ghz MacBook Pro and will be using a Firewire interface... I really appreciate your reply.
