Ok finally updated my system

Ok, thanks to Christmas and my wife I am finally updating my system. I have a dell laptop with a 1.7 dual processor running win vista about 2 gigs of mem. I got everything installed but when I tried to record,I clicked the stop button & cubase freezes and closes. any Ideas?
