How would I best achieve a 16 bit WAV file from my 24bit projects done in SE 3. Audio export has option to create 16 bit on export but does that integrate dithering automatically? There's a plug-in included(US-22?) - do I insert that in the last slot of output(master)or must it be done in 2 steps, 1 create a 24bit WAV then convert to 16 with dithering? I'm so confused ...

Hello,
If you mixdown a 24 bit project to a 16 bit wav file, Cubase dithers the files down automatically. If you choose to use the Apogee UV22 plugin on the master out, that plugin will dither the audio down before Cubase does. People prefer to use the Apogee UV22 plugin because people prefer the Apogee dithering algorithms.
Hope this helps.

So you're saying 24 to 16 does not just truncate the low 8? And if I use UV-22 (as stated earlier...) CUBASE will not do it again? So is "inserting" in the last slot the way to use UV-22?
Most excellent!

Yes, Inserting that plug in on your stereo output that you are mixing down is the way to use the plug in.
