LE won't record

Have been using cubase le 1.0.7 for a while, recently upgraded.
pc: motherboard asus P5GC-MX/1333
soundcard: soundblaster x-fi exstreme gamer
running on windows xp sp3.
processor: intel dual core 2.4ghz
ram: 2gb
audio is set @ default to s/blaster & I am getting signal record in & out, which I can hear, unfortunately LE doesn't seem to be getting signal & won't record. Have tried uninstall & reinstall le, but this won't help. le does play back existing files. can anyone help?

Go to Devices-->Device Setup-->VST Multitrack. What are you using for the ASIO driver?
