Greetings,
Using a Firestudio project fresh out of the box with Cubase LE. I have the latest driver installed. Computer is a MacBook, 2.1/2 running OS 10.4.11
Everything works fine for a while, untill after a random amount of time the sound gets horribly and massively distorted. A restart of Cubase fixes it, until it starts again....
Suggestions?
Thanks.

I have just updated to 4.1.2 with no help. Right now it takes about a minute or two before it starts...... I am not doing anything that seems to cause it.....even sitting inactive it will do it....
I am now also getting static in the period that it "works"
I am NOT having fun.

Oh, things are fine with Garage Band.....so I guess it's not the hardware.
Yamaha on the phone states:"We don't support the free edition on the phone....." Guess that tells me where I can go. Think I'll be buying the upgrades?

Oscar:
Are there any other programs running when you are using Cubase LE? When you say "distortion," do you mean the playback starts to crack and pop?
Thanks.

I shut everything else down, except Fire Control. When I say distortion I mean massive distortion, as if you we're playing it through a $10 radio cranked up to max.....the music is barely recognizable.
Update: Same thing with Fire Control off.........
Thanks.

Understood. I am sure you tried this already, but I would make sure you have all the latest drivers and updates for the hardware and software. Try giving it a fresh install... meaning uninstall Cubase LE and the hardware and start new. I realize this takes time, but it will allow us to start from scratch. Something like this is difficult to trouble shoot via a forum, so I can only suggest the steps I would take. I find that a fresh install often fixes most problems. If this doesn't help, give me a private email and we can go from there. Thanks.

One doesn't uninstall on a MAC...... I downloaded 4.1.2 and installed it over 4.0.3 that should have refreshed everything. The problem occured before and after the upgrade. The driver for the hardware is fresh today as well.
I agree that these incompatabillities are a problem in software development. It may even be the particular OS version I'm using. Too many variables.
As I said, it works with Garage Band.....quite nicely I might add.
Thanks.
