According to the Steinberg Knowledge Forum, the audition function is now handled by the control room. So, I did what they said: Go to connections, enable the studio control room, set the outputs for my monitors, go back to the output tab and set those outputs to "not connected" (to avoid sending the same signal twice). Nothing, no sound when auditioning in the pool or audio editor. So, then I tried what others have suggested: Disable the studio control room. Nothing. I'm pleading to whoever monitors (get it) these forums for Steinburg to provide a solution for this problem. The audition function is a critical tool for doing voice over edits. I need this to work!! Help. Remove all the connections you have there. Now add one stereo output. Reconnect your audio tracks and try to preview something with audition. No joy. Audio tracks only. Followed your instructions to the "T". Nothing. Can play the audio track no problem. And the Audition on MIDI works fine. Just not in the Sample Editor! Any help? What Operating System are you on? What version of Cubase do you have installed? Another option is to enable control room, make sure that your outputs are set properly and then raise the faders in the control room. Op sys is Win XP SP 2. Plenty of RAM and processor. Cubase 4 (had up to the most recent updates but after my re-install to address this issue am now on the base Cubase 4 (waiting for 4.1...)) LE is enabled--no joy. Update: Now it seems to be working..
