When loading a project, why am I informed that audio files cannot be found?

This happens in the following cases:

  • Audio files have been deleted from the project's audio folder after the project was last saved.
  • Audio files needed for the project have had their names altered.
  • Audio files have not been deleted, but have been relocated to a directory outside of the project's audio folder.
  • At some point, audio files were imported into the project, but were not copied to the working directory on import. The project was saved and now the audio files are no longer present in their original location they were imported from.
  • No audio files are missing, but the hard drive or CD Media on which the project resides is corrupt and cannot be read.
  • Possible corrupt project where the project itself is damaged and fails to load audio files correctly, even though they are located in the correct project directory.
  • In rare cases, you may not have network rights to access a project (or it's audio files) because the network administrator has restricted file access on the network.
