Why won't Cubase/Nuendo generate any sound or meter activity in the mixer even after loading audio tracks and properly setting up my system?

This will occur if your system supports dual-processors and cannot properly utilize Cubase/Nuendo's supprt of dual-processors. You may have to disable this by going to Devices > Device Setup , the click on VST Audiobay and then Expert. Uncheck dual-processing and apply the changes.
