Cubase - Behind the Manual

Printing (Recording) Effects to Disc Back to Behind the Manual

The first thing you need to know is that any insert effects loaded into the input channels will get recorded to disk with the audio. If you only want to monitor with the effects and not actually record them to disk with the audio, you should place the insert effects on the audio track and not the input track.

In order for the effects to be heard you must be monitoring through Cubase/Nuendo and not the hardware.

To place the effect on an input channel press the F3 key to open the mixer. With the mixer open you should make sure you can see the insert effects slots.

In the image above, there is a bar dividing the input channel from the audio (Audio 01) channel.

You can load your insert effect into any available slot on the input channel. After loading the insert effect into the input channel you will now be able to record that effect to disk along with the audio coming in on that input channel.
