If you need a quick, basic drum backing track to get your song started, and don't want to copy a MIDI loop indefinitely across the length of your project (just to have to substitute it for a better one later on), there is another option.
First, create a MIDI part and open the Drum Editor. Set the Independent Track Loop for the editor to active and set the range of the locators to include a couple bars.
Write a drum pattern to fill this loop and minimize the editor. Only minimizing it is the key. Other tracks may be recorded and the independent track loop stays active, keeping the beat - and the flow - of your song.

If drum programming isn't your forte, you can do this same thing with any MIDI drum loop. View our MIDI sample drum libraries. |
